Best Ever Blooming Onion

 



Ingredients


125 g breadcrumbs

100g of flour

4 medium onions or up to 4 onions

3 eggs

1 liter of frying oil

Fleur de sel for the finish

Sauce of your choice to serve


Preparation


Remove the top of the onion.

Remove the base of the onion but just a little then peel the onion

Split the onion in half but without going all the way, the onion must remain united during cooking.

Continue to split the onion, as if you wanted to cut it into quarters.

Finalize each notch so that it goes almost to the base.

You should have around 9 petals, depending on the size of your onion.

Spread the petals of your onion flower well.

Proceed in the same waay for the remaining 3 onions.

Flour an onion, taking care to put flour between each petal.

Crack the eggs intto a bowl and beat them lightly with a fork.

Dip the floured onion into the bowl.

Then pass it in the breadcrumbs.

Your first onion flower is ready. Proceed in the saame way with the other onions.

Pour the frying oil into a saucepan and heat to 170 ° C.

Dip an onion in the frying pan.

Cook the onion for 4 minutes then place it on a plate covered with paper towels. Cook the other onions in the same way.

Sprinkle each onion with fleur de sel.

Serve the onions warm with the sauce of your choice. YUM!
